Governor Ishaku Flags off Free Eye Care Treatment in Jalingo.

Taraba State Governor, Arc. Darius Ishaku has officially flagged off a five-day free eye care service in collaboration with Mirai Group of surgeons from Israel for the populace in the state. The event took place today at the premises of the Specialist Hospital Jalingo, Taraba State.

In his speech, His Excellency, Arc. Ishaku stated that the eye as an organ of sight is very delicate and good sight enhances psychological wellbeing and productivity which was what necessitated the collaboration with Mirai group of eye surgeons to help those with visual impairment.

He charged the health professionals at the specialist hospital to avail themselves to learn new skills being displayed by their visiting colleagues. He also charged them to establish a cordial relationship that entails longer friendship, professional cross-pollination of ideas and capacity building. He appealed to the people to cast their votes wisely so that more dividends of democracy will continue to flow to the good people of taraba state.

Earlier, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Innocent Vakkai noted that engaging international experts to address the immediate visual needs of the people is a confirmation of his Excellency’s quest for excellence and the flag-off of eye treatment by foreign experts in ophthalmology is one of the numerous benefits tarabans have witnessed in the last three and half years of the rescue administration.

He applauded the initiative of the Governor’s son, Engr. David Ishaku for facilitating in bringing in the foreign experts for such a milestone medical exercise.

Speaking on behalf of his Medical team, Mirai group Founder and Co-Managing Director; Mr. Roy Tal expressed his appreciation to His Excellency for a wonderful project being done in Taraba. He explained that the company Mirai Group has been working in Nigeria for a very long time with its mission and core expertise in Agriculture, Education and Health.

He said they are in Taraba today to volunteer because of their long good standing relationship with His Excellency and family. 

“We at Mirai, when we see goodness we come, we tag along and we want to help. Now let me say one more thing, the good doctors are working as we speak, doing the best they can to save the sights of the patients. Thank you very much for having us here, for the great hospitality from the moment we landed in Abuja all the way through,” he said.
