Two Commuters attacked by Armed Fulani men at “Dan Anacha”

Two Commuters  escaped death at military checkpoint in Kwararafa town popularly known as (Dan Anacha) in Gassol Local Government Area.

The incident happened yesterday at about 6 o’clock in the evening when their car which was coming from Markudi  Benue was stopped by the Fulani at Military checkpoint demanding that Tiv trybe in the Vehicle should come down.

Narrating his ordeal to news men in Jalingo, one of the commuter who pleaded anonymity said that they were coming from Makurdi when at Kwararafa town they saw armed Fulani men with military officers around and their vehicle was forcefully stopped demanding that the commuters be killed.

He added that while this incident was happening in the presence of the military officers at the  checkpoint they reluctantly sat and watched as the armed men were smashing their vehicles with dangerous weapons without any action made to protect them.

He narrated that knowing the danger befallen them the driver forcefully drove out their car from the military checkpoint to save them from being killed by the armed men who were in their numbers carrying different kinds of weapons.

The commuter lamented the lukewarm attitude of the military officers on duty who could not do anything to protect their lives from the Fulani men that were attacking them.

It could be recalled that there was an unrest in Kwararafa town popularly known as Dan Anacha over a piece of land by farmers.

Attempts to get in touch with the military personnel in that area for more clarity have so far bore no fruit as we await their response on the incident.
