Be truthful in showing the Assessment Committee your damages and losses, Amb. Njiwah.

The people of Gembu in Sardauna local government area have collectively resolved to put the past behind and coexist together for peace and development to prevail in the area.

The assurance was made yesterday during a town hall meeting by all the Jauros and Ardos in Sardauna LGA in Jazzy K hall Gembu, organised by the committee set up by Taraba state Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku recently to carry out on the spot assessments of the level destructions in all the affected areas with a view to augmenting their hardships as a result of last year and this year’s crises.

In his speech, the Chairman of the committee, Amb. Emmanuel Njiwah said they committee is in Sardauna to assess the level of destructions in all the affected communities in the area and to report back to the governor and as well proffer holistic solutions that will forestall a future crisis in the Mambila plateau.

Emmanuel Njiwah maintained that the Governor has a special interest in the area and has been working assiduously towards ensuring that Mambila plateau takes its rightful place as one of the most naturally endowed destinations in the country.

He stated that the committee will be visiting all the affected areas and pleaded with all the Jauros and Ardos to be truthful in showing to the committee only the areas that were affected by the two crises, that of June last year and February this year.

The chairman of the committee revealed that they will be discrete in their assessment which will be backed by pictorial evidence of all the damages and loses.

The former Ambassador to the Republic of Cameron and the present Chairman of PDP Northeast zone appreciated the all the Jauros and Ardos for successfully parleying with the Deputy Governor, Haruna Manu assuring him that they were willing to put the past behind and to chat a common front that will see Sardauna local government standing tall in spite of their tribal divide, averring that the committee is here as a result of the mutual unity they exhibited during visit of the Deputy Governor.

Njiwah further advised the people to cultivate the attitude of collectively sitting together to dialogue on any issue they feel would threaten the peace and security of the local government so as not to allow the reoccurrence of any breakdown of law and order in the area.

Earlier in his address of welcome, the Chairman of Sardauna local government area, Rev. Godswill Sol thanked the committee for coming to assess the level of damages and losses incurred as a result of last year and this year’s crises that caused lots of destructions and hardships on the people.

Godswill Sol challenged the entire inhabitants of Sardauna local government area to imbibe the culture of peaceful and harmonious coexistence, beckoning on them not to allow the devil to creep in again to cause mistrust, animosity and hate among themselves and described the two crises as gruesome experience.

He stated that the people are still grieving as a result of their actions which have caused serious pains on the people and prayed God never to allow such misfortune to befall the people of Sardauna again.

The Chairman assured the committee chairman and members that they will accord the committee the needed support for the exercise to be successful and posited that, he is confident that God will grant them the wisdom and good spirit discernment in the course of the assignment and commended Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku for the love he has for the area and his determination end the rift in its totality.

Speaking on behalf of all the security agencies in the area, the Assistant Commissioner of police who is the Area commander Gembu zone, ACP Kayode Adetumbi lauded the efforts of the state government is working very hard to end the crises and following it up with genuine reconciliation, mitigation, rehabilitation, and reconstruction, describing it as the right step in the right direction.

ACP Adetumbi called on the people of Sardauna to embrace it and urged them not to allow the repeat of these ugly incidents in the areas for development to thrive.

In their separate speeches, the Chairman of Jauros Forum, Saleh Abubakar Dulah and his counterpart, Ardos Forum, Jibo Mbamga told the committee that they have sat and resolved their areas of differences and assured the committee that they will support and as well give accurate data of the loses and damages of the two crises.

The committee also paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Mambila, his Royal Highness Shehu Baju to intimate him on the purpose of the visit.

Speaking, the Chairman of the committee, Amb. Emmanuel Njiwah said the committee has been mandated by the state government to visit all the crises areas and assess the levels of damages and loses and to report back to enable government assists the affected victims.

Emmanuel Njiwah told the royal father that the committee has already commenced its activities by interfacing with all the Ardos and Jauros in his domain and that the interactions were fruitful.

He added that the committee has also come to solicit for royal blessings as well as royal counsel in the course of carrying this noble task so that all the affected areas would be effectively captured.

Responding, the Chief of Mambila Shehu Baju thanked the committee for the honor and assured the committee that he is determined to support and cooperate with them for the success of the exercise.

Shehu Baju stressed that every royal father desires absolute peace in Hus domain and lamented that people lost their lives, properties destroyed and many people lost their means of livelihoods.

He appreciated Governor Darius Ishaku for the love he has been showing to the people of Sardauna and assured that he will stand by him so that absolute peace is achieved not only in Gembu and its environs but in the entire state
