The Presidential Fact-finding Technical Committee on Farmers and Herdsmen Crisis held in Jalingo

 

The Presidential fact-finding Technical Committee on Farmers and Herdsmen crisis, anchored by the Vice President, Mr. Yemi Osinbajo held yesterday at the Gym Hall, Jolly Nyame Stadium, Jalingo with the executive Governor, Arc. Darius Ishaku and other stakeholders and top government functionaries of the state to dialogue on the disputes between farmers and herders.

Governor of Ebonyi State

The session which is chaired by the Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr. David Umahi together and his Technical sub-committee is aimed at lasting solutions to the recurring crisis caused by Farmers and Herdsmen clashes.

The Committee on Farmers and Herdsmen crisis is a product of the economic council of Nine (9) Governors to address the issues of the senseless killings around the country.

In view of this, a three-day intensive deliberation is scheduled for the purpose of finding a lasting solution as the competent committee believes that every problem has a seed of solution for the interest of all, especially in Taraba.

The nine (9) states under this committee are Taraba State, Oyo State, Kaduna State, Zamfara State, Benue State, Ebonyi State, Plateau State, Nassarawa State, and Adamawa State.

There were reports submitted for dialogue by Hon. Stephen Agya, Chairman, Kurmi Local Government Area; Emir of Muri, Abbas Tafida; Rev. Ben Ubeh, Christian Association of Nigeria, Taraba State Chapter and a Representative of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Taraba State Chapter, Joachim Dangana amongst others.
