The United States of America Ambassador to Nigeria paid a courtesy visit to the State for the first time ever since his position as Ambassador to Nigeria from 2016. The US Emissary was warmly received at the Government House chambers Jalingo by His Excellency, Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku and some members of his executive council.

In a discourse with the Governor, Ambassador William Stuart Symington simply said he was in the state to learn about the people and everything Taraba. He emphasized on National America’s motto to be applicable in Nigeria also which is “Out of many, One” meaning many uniting into one because of how great a nation Nigeria is. Mr. Symington further stated that every Nigerian is a great part of the core of the country and there will be no Nigeria without the spirit of being a true Nigerian.

Governor Ishaku who expressed to the Ambassador that it was a very good move to have come to Taraba to learn because there was so much to learn in the State and the more we are able to learn together, the greater we can be. Mentioning some of the major issues of the state, Governor Ishaku bitterly reiterated on the plight of peace in the state that has led to the many deaths of his fellow citizens. However, there are a lot of areas that the U.S can step in to help in the state such as Education, health care, and so many other sectors.

Additionally, the U.S Ambassador who also announced his presence yesterday to the first lady of the State, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku at the Hope Afresh Foundation premises was impressed with what the foundation stood for. He used an illustration curve of expectations and needs to pose a question of how hope can be inspired. Barr. Anna Ishaku said her foundation as the first supporter of the government, have achieved marks of accomplishment by bringing hope to the needy of the State in areas such as in ‘Hard to reach’ program where she toured places no previous government has dared to visit.

Barr. Anna Ishaku together with some Tarabans of the Herbert Humphrey U.S Exchange program Alumni presented gift items to the Ambassador.
