The Taraba State Government, under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, has graduated the 2nd Batch of the Youths and Women Empowerment skills Acquisition programme of His Excellency Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku. This took place yesterday at the Hall of Jolly Nyame Stadium Jalingo.
In his welcome Address, the Honorable Commissioner Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Mr. Abba Akawu Zagha said the Rescue Watch Team in collaboration with his Ministry are proud to have successfully trained and graduated 448 Youths and Women trainees in 16 different trades as well as flagging off of about 600 Youths and Women in the 3rd batch of the programme. This initiative has led to the creation of Employment opportunities (through the skills Acquisition Training Exercise) and also wealth creation (through the provision of free packaged of starters packs) to the teeming Youths and Women across the 16 Local Government Area and 2 special development Areas respectively.
The Commissioner also disclosed that His Excellency had approved the payment of N 10,000.00 monthly allowances to each of the trainees during the 3 months period and has also approved a training cost of about N 20,000,000.00 to enable the trainers to give an intensive training within the stipulated 3 months period. Provision of starter packs and other supportive items free of charge to the 488 beneficiaries of the second batch was under the training of various skills such as Solar energy technology, Fashion design, tiling, welding, carpentry, electrical repairs, plumbing, GSM repairs, cosmetology, computer appreciation, shoe design, Aluminum construction, hairdressing, weaving, and wood carving amongst others.
The Executive Governor of Taraba State, Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku presented cheques to beneficiaries of the TRSG-BOI Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Fund.
The Governor was accompanied by his amiable Wife, Barr. Anna Ishaku, the Deputy Governor, Engr. Haruna Manu, the Speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly, Right Hon. Abel Peter Diah and other notable dignitaries.
