Residents of Jibu village and other neighbouring communities within the area have been advised to be at alert and as well ensure that they embark on extra vigilance and carry out maximum security surveillance around them.
The advise was given by the Senior Special Assistant on Media Publicity to Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku, Bala Dan Abu in a press statement issued to newsmen, reminding the people of the affected area of a helicopter suspected to be loaded with arms and ammunition reported to have landed around Jibu village located along River Benue near Ibi, in Ibi LGA, Taraba State.
Bala Dan Abu said it has become imperative to keep the residents of the said area to be at high alert and security conscious as the arms and ammunition in the helicopter are allegedly meant for a militia group that may be planning an attack on some Taraba villages.
The SSA Media and Publicity to the Taraba state Governor mentioned that this same system of arms delivery happened last year prior to the tragic attacks in Agatu in Benue State which led to the massacre of lives there and nothing was done to trace and arrest the owners of the helicopter.
As contained in the press statement, he noted with grave concerned that this may be another planned militia attacks in the offing and therefore, challenged the people around the affected area to be vigilant and with urgency inform security agencies of any thread or breach of peace around the area.
