The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Taraba State Chapter has described the exceptional giant strides recorded so far by Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku within a period of two years.
The State president of the Union, Comrade Naphtali Kefas made the remarks in Jalingo yesterday, when he led other Officials of the Union in the State and Local Governments on a courtesy call to the Governor at the Government House.
Comrade Kefas particularly commended the Governor for his remarkable efforts towards repositioning of the Local Government administration for the attainment of high productivity and efficiency.
According to the NULGE President, the local Government staff audit and the introduction of the biometric system had assisted enormously despite insinuations and unconstructive criticisms by many people in the State.
The NULGE President who took time to shower encomiums on the Governor during his speech, said the Union was supportive of the state Governor in all the reforms he initiated to improve the condition of Local Governments in the state.
He also added that the Union was happy with the Governor because the screening exercises carried out in the local Government Councils were yielding huge results especially now that hope is being restored to the staff who were hitherto hopeless in terms of payment of salaries.
He said their visit was basically to show appreciation to the Governor against what he called mere and baseless criticisms of the administration by ignorant and mischievous persons.
The NULGE boss said that since the Governor meant well for the state, there is need for Tarabans irrespective of background to rally round the present administration to continue enjoying dividends of democracy.
In his response, Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku said the visit of the NULGE Officials was his happiest moment because since he assumed duties as Governor two years ago, the Union was the first to show gratitude for his contributions towards developing the State.
His Excellency who emphasized the significance of leadership in every society, assured that as a leader he would continue to do what is right in line with the oath of office he has taken and expressed optimism that Taraba state will be good, great and shine again under his leadership. He said that with the kind of support given to him by NULGE, the State Government would do more to positively impact the society and enumerated Agriculture, Infrastructural development and Economic empowerment as the cardinal focus of his administration to turn around the fortunes of the state.
The Governor commended the leadership of NULGE for taking such initiative, indicating that his administration will continue to pay greater attention to labour organizations such as NULGE for exhibiting maturity in their approach to industrial issues.
