Wife of Taraba State Governor Challenge Female Politicians on Active Politics

The wife of Taraba State Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku has challenged female politicians to be active participants in politics through hard work to enable them earn votes from the electorates.

The Governor’s wife gave this challenge recently in an interview after she led women delegation from the State to the Israeli Parliament in Jerusalem.

The Governor’s wife who was impressed with the composition of the Parliament and its various Committees commended the Israeli citizens for reposing confidence in women and voting them into the parliament.

She further called on female politicians in Taraba State to work harder and earn the confidence of their people so as to be voted into leadership positions instead of expecting that positions be given them on the platter of gold.

Earlier during the tour,Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku, expressed gratitude to Tailor Made Tour Israel, for sponsorship of the Women delegation on a special tour of the Holy Land.

In a show of appreciation on behalf of her delegation, during a ceremony marking the end of the special tour, the Governor’s wife presented the President, Tailor Made Tours Israeli, Mrs. Josephine Zinder with cultural attires from the Three Senatorial Zones of the State.

She said the gesture of Tailor Made Tours was invaluable to the beneficiaries, given the in-depth knowledge they have acquired of several places visited.

On her part, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Mrs. Lois Emmanuel commended the relationship between Nigeria and Israel which has allowed for the training of Nigerians in various fields especially in Agricultural Technology.

While thanking the Tailor Made Tours, the Commissioner said the trip gave them the opportunity to understand the Holy Land of Israel better.

She also gave kudos to the wife of the Governor for her effort back home towards uplifting the living standard of youths and women through various programs of her Pet Project, Hope Afresh Foundation Taraba,which she stressed is determined to do more for the people of the State.

In her remarks, the President Tailor Made Tours Israel, Mrs. Josephine Zinder who presented certificates of Jerusalem Pilgrims to the Governor’s wife and members of the delegation said, the whole exercise was about one tum deserving another.

Mrs. Zinder, explained that God had blessed her with children after Twenty years of marriage when pilgrims from Taraba State prayed for her, for this reason, she has continued to thank God for Taraba State and Nigeria as a whole.

She also commended the Governor’s wife for her Pet Project and promised to partner with the Hope Afresh Foundation Taraba, in a bid to improve the wellbeing of the people.

She encouraged the women to live out their potentials in ways and manner that will benefit the generality of the society.

Barr. Anna Ishaku and members of her delegation visited notable biblical sites among which were Mount Olive, Rachael’s Tomb, the Shepherds Field, said to be where the angel announced the birth of Jesus to the wise men, as well as the field where Ruth met with Boaz.

Other places visited include; the Pool of Bethesda, believed to be the birthplace of Mary the mother of Jesus, fourteen stations of the cross, Jordan River and the Mount of Temptation, as well as the World Diamond Center.

The tour climaxed with the visit to the Knesset, that is the Israeli Parliament which houses one hundred and twenty representatives who draft legislations for the State of Israel, among them, Thirty – one women.

The Parliamentary Staff, Mariam who conducted the wife of the State Governor and her delegation through the parliament said the Knesset is adjudged to be the only democracy in the Middle East.

She explained the workings of the legislature, from the processes of election of members to formation of committees, among which is the Committee on the state of women and functions of same.

Some of the women on delegation expressed optimism that women in no distant future will take their rightful place in the legislative and other elective positions.
