Religious leaders in the country have been tasked to openly condemn recent statements by some Arewa youths for the Ibos to vacate the northern part of the country by October 1st 2017.
State Coordinator, Special Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Chris Obi made the remarks in an interview with Taravoices correspondent in Jalingo.
He said by distancing themselves from the pronouncement, it will show that they are lovers of peace.
Chris Obi, remarked that as enshrined in the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria, nobody has the power to eject any citizen in the spirit of one Nigeria.
The Coordinator stated that after the civil war of 1967 to 1970, the Ibos and various tribes mostly people of the northern part of the country, have co – existed peacefully and wondered why the trend is being threatened by some persons.
He maintained that some persons might have instigated the Arewa youths, describing such people as enemies of the country.
Chris Obi, stressed that some persons might have hidden agenda aimed at diverting the attention of government from the anti – corruption fight and the development of the country.
The Coordinator said the Ibos have been crying of marginalization in recent times, urging them as industrious and peaceful people to sought diplomatic means in addressing the issues.
He commended the maturity and wisdom of Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku towards handling crises in the state and called on Tarabans to always remain peaceful for the continuous development of the state.
He urged the people be watchful and see Taraba State as their second home since the government has created a conductive atmosphere for all to co – exist peacefully.
