Projects Coordinator, Community Social Development Projects, Taraba State, Mr. Samuel Tari says the agency is geared towards complementing Government rural development plan in the State.
Mr. Tari stated this while interacting with Taravoices in his office in Jalingo.
According to him, the agency’s major functions include sensitisation of the agency’s intervention programme and identifying communities within the Sixteen Local Government Areas as well as the Special Development Areas with special needs.
“The agency is assisted by the World Bank International Development Aid Credit which is their own support, ably assisted by the State Government through payment of its counterpart funding.
The Governor after his swearing in hit the ground running by approaching the World Bank in order to revive the agency and after assuring the bank of his commitment to meeting all laid out conditions, the agency was resuscitated and so far so good, we have started meeting our primary objectives for the year 2017″ he noted.
The agency according to the Projects Coordinator has covered areas within the Southern and Central Senatorial districts of the State with a view to meeting the most pressing needs of the people in those Communities.
“One of the major deliverables of the CSDP in Taraba State this year is to produce eighteen CDP’S and ten Community vulnerable group development project. The CDP is meant for the Community while CVGDP is geared towards the vulnerable people in our rural Communities.
“The project will target them straight ahead. Before we commence on any project, the General Manager in person of Mr. Irimiya Danjuma leads a team to carry out sensitisation tour to the three Senatorial Zones in the State. We have visited and concluded sensitisation visit in the Southern and Central Senatorial Zones and we had the participatory rural appraisal in various communities”, he revealed.
Similarly, the agency according to the Projects Coordinator is highly elated by the express approval given by Governor Ishaku, through the State Executive Council to be given the poverty map of the State which has so far enabled them to identify the most poverty stricken communities for rapid intervention.
“We are very grateful to His Excellency Governor Darius Ishaku for his commitment to ensuring that we meet the needs of the vulnerable and poor in our Communities. On our part we believe that we will complement the developmental plans of this administration and many more in the years ahead. The Governor is a man of his words and we believe he will do much more than what we ask of him.
“If the Community Social Development Projects is anything to go by, then the Northern Senatorial Zone are next in line for the sensitisation and participatory rural appraisal schemes to commence from today through Wednesday.
“We have identified three Local Government Areas in the Northern Zone for intervention namely; Yorro, Karim-Lamido and Jalingo. We are going to intervene in all the LGA’s in the Northern Zone but the three I have mentioned to you are priorities for us”, he stressed.
