The wife of Taraba State Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku today officially handed over the keys and receipts to the Magami and Jeka da Fari Christian Cemeteries to the Executives of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Jalingo Chapter.
Speaking during the official handing over, the wife of the Governor appreciated groups and individuals who had partnered with her to renovate the dilapidated Magami and Jeka da Fari Christian Cemeteries, stressing that great blessings accompany all who support a good course.
Barr. Anna Ishaku who encouraged those who were yet to support the project to do so, said she was challenged to take up the task of rebuilding the cemetery fence due to the fact that animals and human beings were taking advantage of the illegal entrance to litter, break and excavate corpse for evil purposes, and those living around the environment have to endure the stench from open graves due to such heinous activities.
She emphasised that it is pertinent for the living to take care of the place where the dead are laid to rest as it is everybody’s final abode, adding that human beings and foolish talks cannot distract her from doing the right thing, stressing that it should not also distract anyone from doing the right thing.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Jalingo CAN Chairman, Rev. Abraham Ogah appreciated Her Excellency for her passion and zeal concerning the renovation of both Cemeteries, saying the Governor’s wife is not only giving hope to the living but also to the dead.
He also commended those who heeded the call by the Governor’s wife to embark on such a course, adding that women are known for their endurance and patience as demonstrated by her Excellency.
In his remarksa, the Chairman Jalingo Local Government Area, Alh. Abdul-Nasir Boboji lauded her Excellency’s initiative at renovating the cemetery stating that, in addition to given hope to destitutes in the society, she has extended same to those that have gone ahead of us.
He declared that the living as well as the dead are pleased with her kindness and are praying for her to succeed in all her endeavours, while assuring that the executives will do their best to live up to expectation.
