Wife of Taraba State Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku has commended the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN for extending its hand of fellowship to People Living with Disabilities in Taraba.
The wife of the Governor gave the commendation today during the CBN Micro Scheme Loans Disbursement to 150 members of the Association at the NUT Hall, Jalingo.
According to her, it is heartwarming to see that, in addition to empowering women and youths, CBN has extended it’s programme to the physically challenged, as she prayed God to reward them bountifully.
She stressed that she had worked with the physically challenged in the past and assured the Association of People Living With Disabilities of her readiness to support them in every possible way, as she prayed God to bless the work of their hands to enable them pay up the loan so others can also benefit.
In his remarks, the CBN representative from Abuja, Alh. Abdullahi Isa revealed that, in its quest to to assist the less privileged, CBN, in its conference which will soon hold in Abuja, choose members from the Association of People Living With Disabilities in Taraba to present 450 hand woven bags for exhibition.
Isa further expressed the Bank’s readiness in offering loans to enable Taraba boost their economic activities.
Also speaking, the CBN Branch Comptroller, Alh. M.S Abdullahi lauded the present administration’s determination to put smiles on the faces of the people.
He explained that CBN intends to empower the first batch of 150 members of the Association of People Living With Disabilities according to their talents and abilities, stressing that hitherto begging was synonymous with the physically challenged which is not right, hence CBN’s intervention through loans to empower and give them a sense of belonging.
He further encouraged them to make judicious use of the loans that will be given to them to better their lot as well as endeavour to pay back so that subsequent batches will also benefit.
The President of the Association, Sadiq Muhammed appreciated all who had supported them especially the office of the Wife of the Governor for carrying them along in most of her projects.
He also appreciated CBN for the transparent screening exercise conducted to select the 150 members for the loan disbursement in order to enhance their businesses and make them better persons in the society.
