The Lamdo of Gashaka, Alhaji Zubairu Mohammed Hamman Gabdo Sambo has described the Gumti National Park as the only largest natural conservation in Nigeria and indeed the west African sub-region.
Lamdo Zubairu Mohammed Sambo said this yesterday in his palace when officials of National Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ, Taraba State Chapter paid him a courtesy call and to congratulate him on his ascension to the throne.
Zubairu Mohammed Sambo maintained that the visit will go along in exploring the vast potentials of Serti, the Headquarters of Gashaka Local Government that is richly blessed, saying he is confident that the tour will afford them the opportunity to bring to limelight other hidden potentials that have not been harnessed.
He stated that he is still a member of the NUJ and will do everything within his capability to ensure that he keys into every activity of the union so that it will be able to deliver on its mandate of unfettered information, education and entertainment dissemination across board.
The Lamdo Gashaka disclosed that apart from the tourism endowment, Gashaka is also agrarian in nature and blessed in terms of solid mineral deposits and the highest mountain standing about 2400 meters above sea level, expressing optimism that the visit will further reposition the Local Government Area and better the lives of the people of his domain.
He appreciated the members and officials of NAWOJ for choosing Gashaka Local Government Area for the Education Tour and assured the Association of his support throughout the period of the study tour.
Earlier in her speech, the Chairman National Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ, Taraba State chapter, Victoria Roland Andekin told the Lamdo that they are in his palace to congratulate him on his well-deserved appointment and to also assure him that the Association will continue to partner with him at all times.
Victoria Andekin said as a member of the NUJ Taraba State before his elevation to the throne of his ancestors, it is expedient for his colleagues to rally around him and project his domain in good light and to also bring to fore the hidden potentials of the area to public glare.
The NAWOJ chairman mentioned that the choice of Gashaka local government area was a deliberate one and added that NAWOJ in collaboration with NUJ is determined to critically explore other areas of Gashaka that have been left untouched.
She maintained that the new partnership will afford Journalists in the State the opportunity to collaborate with the Lamdo with a view to giving Gashaka a unique attention in the areas of news dissemination considering the fact that the Lamdo has been a strong member of the NUJ which behoves on Journalists in the State to put his domain in the fulcrum of reportage.
Other speakers who spoke during the visit included the Chairman NUJ, Taraba State Council, Comrade Solomon Ajiduku and the Editor of the Nigeria Sunrise Newspaper, Comrade Bakoji Sukuji, who stated that they are determined to explore all abundant natural resources of the area with a view to attracting investors to take advantage of the huge resources in the area.
They both maintained that Gashaka Gumti National Park has been under reported and assured the new Lamdo that they are determined to partner with him so that more comprehensive stories will be written about the park with a view to drawing both State and Federal Government attention so that Gumti National Park will be given International recognition.
