Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, representing Taraba South Senatorial Zone in the National Assembly on Saturday, laid foundation for the Federal Government’s Comprehensive Health Clinic in Bibi, Takum Local Government Area of Taraba to ease access to health delivery.
Performing the foundation laying ceremony, Bwacha said the project was a collaborative effort between the National Assembly and the Presidency through Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to enhance healthcare delivery.
He then called on the people of the Community to support the contractor to complete the project in a record time.
“The foundation we are laying today is the result of a collaboration between the National Assembly and the Presidency through sustainable development goals to improve healthcare delivery in the country.
“I urge you all to give the necessary support to the contractor to enable him complete the project on time for the benefit of your Community and the neighbouring communities,” he said.
In his remarks, State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Innocent Vakai, commended Sen. Bwacha’s commitment in improving health care services in the State and the Country.
Represented by Dr. Musa Obadiah, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, the commissioner called on the National Assembly to ensure the passage of the National Health Act to enhance health care services in the Country.
According to him, the act would enable the health sector to get one per cent of the annual national budget to be able to offer quality services to the people.
Earlier, Mr. Jonah Ifur, the Acting Chairman of Takum Local Government Council, commended Bwacha for attracting Federal presence to his Constituency.
Ifur, who described the hospital as the best gift to the Community, pledged the support of the people to ensure its successful completion.
On his part, the contractor, Mr. Philip Ada of Beeds Enterprise Nigeria Limited, said the 60 bed capacity hospital with the contract sum of N75 would be completed within 45 days.
