Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission TSIEC, has been challenged to be an unbiased umpire in the forthcoming local government election.
Barrister Luka Agbu gave the challenge in an interview with our correspondent in Jalingo.
He said TSIEC must follow lay down rules and regulations guiding the election process and guide against sharp practices that would undermine the process and in turn truncate development process at the grassroots.
The Barrister stressed that youths who are the bedrock of the society must also support the process by playing their part by avoiding all acts that would disrupt peace during the election period.
Luka Agbu who was the president of the Youth of Vision Wukari, remarked that in the past youths were usually used and dumped and call on them to always play their part by participating fully in any electoral process.
He praised Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku for his neutral stance on the screening of candidates and primaries of the PDP in the forthcoming local government polls which is an indication that the days of the imposition of candidates are over.
Luka, further thanked the Governor for his support to the youths and called on youths in the state to support the rescue team.
Barrister Luka, also called on political office holders in the state to visit people of their constituency to know the teething problems facing them.
He stressed that most politicians only visit their constituencies when elections are approaching and charged people at the grassroots not to support such politicians when the time is ripe for politicking.
