Taraba state Commissioner of Culture and Tourism, Hon. Ishaya Gani has lauded the organizers of the Peace Concert recently held in the state capital, Jalingo.
The Commissioner made the remark in a chat with taravoices inside the Jolly Nyame stadium.
According to Hon. Gani, the organizers Mary and Prolific Entertainment should be applauded for packaging a show like this.
The concert was organized primarily to celebrate the relative peace the state has enjoyed since the coming on board of this administration. We are all witnesses to the fact that Taraba has been peaceful for a long period of time therefore there is nothing wrong in having one particularly now that we are in the Christmas season so we need peace.
He further stated that the project will be sustained, stressing that it will not be a cul de sac.
I am very optimistic that this will not be the end of peace concert in the state. It will be sustained even if not by these NGO but by other groups that will toe on the same path.
When probed by taravoices over the low turn out of people to the stadium due to poor publicity, he added that “look we have to first appreciate the fact that the event is a success and on the issue of publicity, there was enough publicity for the event and the organizers are doing this for the first time so its an impressive effort as far as am concerned, so kudos to them”.
In his remark at the concert, Governor Darius Ishaku harped on the need for youths in the state to shun any act of illegality and violence and embrace peace.
The governor congratulated the organizers for their efforts and wished everyone present a fun filled night.
Represented by the Culture and Tourism Commissioner, Governor Ishaku charged the youths to be peace ambassadors of the state.
Notable entertainment icons who performed included, Taraba state born Jazzy Jagz, Race, Joel Amadi, Taraba Peace ambassador, Charlie Nathan, Mad Melon and Mountain Black and the star act of the night was RnB crooner, Kiss Daniel.
The concert held at the main bowl Jolly Nyame stadium, Jalingo is the first of its kind by the Mary and Prolific entertainment joint collaboration of a non governmental agency.
