Speaking during the occasion which took place at the Jolly Nyame Stadium, Gynasium Hall, Taraba State Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku said youths are the most vulnerable group hence the need to preach peace and the urgent need to encourage them to discard any form of activity that is capable of breaching peace in the society.
Darius Ishaku maintained that though the State is relatively peaceful at the moment, there is the need to consolidate on it by engaging the youths in activities that will always keep them occupied.
He explaining that, the essence of this particular event is not only meant to talk about peace and peaceful coexistence but rather an avenue to unwind with each other as well as generate minding touching ideas that will further solidify on the peace being enjoyed at the moment.
Governor Ishaku averred that, he is resolved to ensure that peace permeates to all nooks and crannies of the State saying when it is achieved, efforts would be intensified to ensure that peace remains permanent in the State.
Similarly, the Governor said, to ensure the sustainability of peace, attention would be given to empowerment and skills acquisition that will help in improving on the livelihood of the citizenry by being gainfully and self employed.
In his speech, the Commissioner of Youths and Sports, Hon. Atsumate James Gani commended Prolific Entertainment and Hope Afresh Foundation Taraba, for using this yuletide season to celebrate with the Internally Displaced Persons IDPs in the State and also gave the State Governor a pat on the back for supporting the initiative and also work assiduously for its success.
Atsumate Gani maintained that the large numbers of IDPs that are not is an attestation to the fact that Taraba is a peaceful State, adding that the goodwill of Prolific Entertainment to is a welcome development as he challenged all Tarabans to you use this season of Christmas and celebrate with the IDPs.
The Commissioner asserted that peace is the only viable panacea for development and charged Tarabans to courageously work towards fostering peace and harmonious coexistence in the State.
While in their speech, Mary Ishaku and Simon Shitu said the Prolific Entertainment is a Non Governmental Organisation that is founded primarily to give hope to the hopeless and driven by a passion to contribute meaningfully to the development of the society.
They stated that their organisation, the Prolific Entertainment is out to help the State Government in its drive to preach peace and enhance mutual coexistence across the State and equally reach out to the less privilged.
They also disclosed that, they donated food items to IDPs camps in Kona Jalingo and Mutum Biyu in Gassol Local Government Areas respectively.
Accordingly, they revealed that, the organisation sung a borehole, constructed a toilet at NYSC camp, a cooking competition where the winner will have her restaurant equipped with modern cooking utensils and football competition which the winning team takes away a brand new coaster bus.
Speaking further, they mentioned that the organisation is envisaging on working on the promotion of the culture of the people of the State as well as the sensitisation visit to smaller communities with a view to promoting peace at all levels.
As the organisers of the Taraba Peace concert 2016, Mary Ishaku and Simon Shittu said they are determined to help people at the grassroots to be self employed as a measure of bridging the gap between the poor and the rich.
Highpoint of the event was the cutting of the concert cake, launching to support IDPs in the State and the dinner proper.
