Gov Ishaku Hails Gen. Danjuma, Calls Him Nigeria’s Best Elder Statesman

Governor Darius Ishaku has described Gen. TY Danjuma as one of the best elder statesmen in Nigeria’s history. Gen. Danjuma turned 79 last Friday and was feted by well-wishers in an elaborate event at Lagos.

Ishaku, who attended the event alongside many dignitaries from Taraba state, said he wished many Nigerians in the general’s shoes could emulate him.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to the Governor, Emmanuel Bello. Speaking further, Ishaku noted that the story of the general is like an epic account in one of those Greek’s heroic accounts.

He said, “General Danjuma has continued to demonstrate that, although human, he is no ordinary man. His philanthropy, large heart, humility, and above all, fear of God has made him outstanding not just here at home but around the globe. One thing many don’t know about him is that his act of private kindness is even more than the ones often announced. He keeps many of his philanthropy quietly in secret. In fact, secret giving and keeping quiet about it is one of his strengths. I believe this is why God is blessing him and enlarging his coasts. I believe others should copy him and reach out to those in need.”

On the assignment Danjuma has been given on the North East, Ishaku assured the region of the former defense minister’s capacity. As a governor from the region, I know we are very lucky to have him heading the initiative. He would not only just give the assignment his best, he would even go beyond it to surpass expectations. Already, we are feeling the impact of this assignment. Better days are ahead.”
