Wife of the Taraba State Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku has reiterated the need for the people of Taraba to enroll into the CBN- Entrepreneurship Development scheme.
The Governor’s wife urged the women to without delay mobilise people from their various LGAs to participate and benefit from the program.
Speaking at the event the Head, Development Finance Office, CBN Jalingo, Mr Abdullahi Baba Isa disclosed that “the CBN- Entrepreneurship Development Center Northeast, Nigeria, Maiduguri is one of Central Banks of Nigeria (CBN) initiative to expressly address the phenomenon of rising youth unemployment and its threat to political stability, social cohesion and economic growth of the nation. “
According to him, “EDC adopts a person-Centered and demand -Driven approach towards promoting and developing competent and productive initiatives in the area of small enterprises.”
He further stated that with a fee of just five thousand naira, registered participants will undergo training for six months after which they will be attached to companies for six months to gain mastery of their chosen business fields.
Mr lsa also stated that the program will facilitate easy access to start-up capital to trainees, especially funds from Banks and allied financial institutions.
He also explained the dynamics of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Anchor Borrowers’ Programme Which he said had the potential of creating millions of jobs and lifting thousands of smallholder farmers out of poverty.
He stated that “Under the programme, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is setting aside N40 billion out of the N220 billion Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Fund to be given to farmers at single digit interest rate of maximum nine per cent per annum.”
The objective of CBN-EDC Northeast is to create a new breed of young entrepreneurs that will become net-contributors to the national economy.
The project is designed to provide training, strategies and certification programmes that will assist young Nigerians to embrace micro, small, and medium scale enterprises as an alternative employment option.
It seeks to effectively mainstream youth participation in the economic activities of their respective communities with a view to reducing unemployment, while also generating a higher value addition for the nation’s economy.
The program aims to develop entrepreneurship spirit amongst Nigerians by providing insights into the tools, techniques and frame work for functional areas of business enterprise, including production, marketing, personnel and finance.
The programe will also help develop skills of trainees to successfully start, manage, diversify and expand business enterprises and raise a new class of entrepreneurs who can successfully manage micro, small and medium scale enterprises, compete globally, and who can serve as or provide (the) catalyst for the industrialization of Nigeria.
