Barr. Anna Ishaku Honoured as Boy,10 Wins Spelling Bee

In recognition of her continued demonstration of care and concern for those in need, Wife of the Executive Governor of Taraba State has been awarded the Wyte Image Media Award for Selfless Service to Humanity.
Participants of the spelling beeThis award which was established to recognise people who give selflessly of their time and resources, and thereby inspiring others to take similar action was conferred on Her Excellency yesterday at the Banquet Hall of the Taraba Motel in Jalingo.
In her acceptance speech rendered through her Press Secretary, Mrs Elizabeth Usen Smith, the epitome of selfless service commended the organisers for the Honour conferred on her and stated that with God’s help she would not relent in service to her people. 
She also applauded the efforts of the organisation in helping to improve the standard of education in the State through the spelling bee and urged them to sustain the project for a better outcome.
Her Excellency, however, encouraged the presenters to improve on a clear articulation of words to help pupils rightly decipher the words and spell accurately.
Similarly, Zaharadeen Wakili is proof that practice makes perfect when it comes to mastering spelling bees. The ten-year-old from Al- Baz Academy won the maiden edition of the Wyte Image Media Spelling Bee Competition.
Having contested with 45 pupils from ten school he brilliantly spelt his way through five stages to emerge winner with two students from Rhema Christian Academy coming second.
img-20161120-wa0019The Wyte Image Media Spelling Bee is an initiative of Mr Festus Odunze a National Youth Corp member serving at Salihu Dogo Secondary School, Jalingo. According to him, the contest is an English spelling competition for pupils in primary schools who are under the age of 16.
In his words,“This competition will help discover Taraba’s best young spellers; make spelling fun for children of all ages and help parents develop their children’s’ talents as they learn. The platform will give all Taraba pupils the opportunity to test their skills” he emphasised.
Speaking earlier, the Taraba State Chief of Staff, Hon. Rebo  Usman who was represented by Mr Gabriel Olayinka, Chief Executive Officer of the Taraba Business School disclosed that being an advocate of quality education; he is impressed with the initiation of the competition.
He pledged support for the project and made cash donation as he was optimistic that it would provide pupils with the opportunity to participate in a positive, competitive spelling challenge to improve their English, spelling capabilities, comprehension and communication skills
The highlight of the day was the official unveiling of the Profile Magazine, presentation of prizes to participants and presentation of Airtel gadgets to Her Excellency and costumers.
