The Wife of the Taraba State Governor, Barr. Anna Ishaku in collaboration with High Tech Center has made it possible for a maiden I.C.T (Information and Communication Technology) one-week camp training for all interested individuals in the whole of Taraba. The High Tech Center anchors the I.C.T training workshop which was opened yesterday 7th of November 2016, at the Taraba Motel Jalingo.
At the opening event, the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. (Mrs.) Omowunmi Hassan stated that the High Tech Center is a non-governmental organisation of skilled personnel to train, empower and build capacity for women and youths through information and communication technology. The original vision as at then was to reach out to women and girls in Nigeria through awareness/ literacy campaign, workshops, summits on ICTs and computer usage while providing information on ICT access opportunities to women. In general, the vision of the centre was to see that every Nigerian woman and youth to be I.C.T literate for national development such as Entrepreneurial development.
She urged campers to pledge maximum cooperation in the training exercise to yield good results of performance which will be awarded prizes such as laptops.
Some dignitaries present at the opening of the camp include the Jalingo Local Government Chairman, Hon. Abdul Nasir Bobboji, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Science and Technology, Dr Isa Mohammed Hamza etc.
Special Recognition was made to the I.C.T Coordinator Hope Afresh foundation, Mr Gambo Hamman who commended the efforts of Her Excellency and the High Tech Center for making it a reality for tarabans to become knowledgeable in the area of I.C.T.
In closing, the CEO of High Tech Center outlined the programs of the centre which will take place during the training such as the stakeholder’s forum. Some programs done by High Tech Center includes; workshop for wives and women leaders at the state and local government areas (LGAs) tagged Women Leader Forum (WLF), Women I.C.T summit for professionals and women in private and public sectors of the economy and the ladies I.C.T summit for developing female students in the tertiary levels on I.C.T.
