About two thousand Batch B National Youth Service Corps NYSC members deployed to Taraba State have completed their one year mandatory National assignment.
Taraba coordinator Emmanuel I. Atta confirmed this in an interview with taravoices reporter that the Passing Out Parade was observed on low key.
The NYSC scheme which is a mandatory assignment put in place by the Federal Government, is meant to render free service to the host community as well as avail all Nigerians an opportunity of knowing the culture of all Nigerians.
Mr. Emmanuel Atta confirmed that the corps members did not face much challenges while serving in their host communities while commending the State Governor for creating an enabling environment for the Corp members that served the State.
According to him, eight Corps members were given extension of service, because they violated the rules and regulations governing the service, which will last for four months, while a Corps member lost his life during his service to the nation.
Some of the Corps members who bared their minds on their experience in Taraba State said their host communities were kind and hospitable to them and they wish to stay back if they are given the opportunity of employment.
Others emphasized the need for their monthly allowance to be paid, calling on the State Government to intensify effort at paying them before they leave the State.
The Corps members were seen jubilating after a successful service year.
