Emma Bello Tasks Journalists to Be Dedicated in Their Responsibilities

Journalists in the State have been challenged to work together as a family to help project the Rescue Mission of His Excellency, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku positively to all the nooks and crannies of the State.

This was the position of the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Hon. Emmanuel Bello yesterday at NUJ Press Center when he met with the Executives of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Taraba State Council and some officials of Chapels in the State, reiterating his resolve to work with the State Council efficiently and effectively.

Hon. Emma Bello maintained that the success of the present administration in the State lay with the journalists and stressed that all hands must be on deck to be able to carry the task holistically by sensitizing the populace on the activities of Government with a view to canvassing for more support across the board.

The SSA Public Affairs stated that the Press is the mirror of the society and it behooved on all journalists in the State to see themselves as members of one and indivisible family and advised all to shun all forms of bickering and work collectively with the singular objective of projecting the journalism profession in good light.

Emma Bello said people of the society look up to journalists to keep them abreast with happenings in the society while lamenting that instead of teaming up to meet up the people’s quest for fast information dissemination, they have rather ganged up into groups and pulling each other down while their statutory responsibility is left lagging behind.

He reaffirmed his determination to carry all journalists along in the course of discharging his duties, saying that, he intends to create a  wider working synergy between journalists in the State and the State Government, adding that his responsibilities now exceeds the boundaries of the State which he declared that it demands more involvement of journalists to assist him to achieve the task ahead.

Speaking further, Emma Bello charged journalists in the State to be responsible and responsive, taking into consideration the cardinal objectives of informing, educating and enlightening the society at all times devoid of any form of sentiment or bias and stressed that Taraba needs to be in the public glare at all times considering the enormous potentials the State is blessed with.

Responding, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Taraba State Council, Comrade Solomon Ajiduku who spoke on behalf of Journalists in Taraba assured him that, all journalists in Taraba State would accord him the desired support to enable him to succeed in his new assignment.

Comrade Ajiduku told the SSA Public Affairs that his appointment is a blessing to the journalism profession particularly to journalists in the State considering his pedigree in the job asserting that, he is confident that Taraba will constantly be on the front burner as well as keeping people of the State abreast with Government activities which has been inadequate in the past.

The NUJ Chairman however tasks the SSA Public Affairs to live above board in carrying out his duties and equally beckoned on him to as a matter of urgency establish harmonious working synergy between journalists and Government by regularly interfacing in order to be conversant with Government policies and programmes, particularly in boosting the Rescue Agenda of Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku to the wider world.

He further informed the SSA Public Affairs on the deplorable nature of the Secretariat of the NUJ and pleaded with him to prevail on the State Government to come to the aid of the State Council by renovating the edifice which is a rallying point for all journalists within the State and beyond, adding, the NUJ Chairman told the SSA that there is a serious crack in the union where some members do not respect the leadership of the Union and pleaded with him to intervene so that impasse would be brought to an end for peace to reign so that collectively the Union will be able to move forward and chart a common front.
