Wife of Taraba State Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku, has met with all Stakeholders of the Central Senatorial Zone in order to map out ways to empower Women and Youths for the development of the Zone.
Addressing the gathering at the Gashaka Local Government Secretariat Serti today, the Governor’s wife while commending the people’s enthusiasm and hospitality, explained that the meeting is a fulfilment of her promise during the Governorship campaign to come and see them with a view to rub minds and see how best to reach out to them.
According to her, a similar meeting was held with stakeholders from the Northern Zone recently with testimonies of a successful outcome, and after the meeting with them from the Central Zone, she will proceed to also meet with the Southern Zone as she expressed hope that the meetings will achieve its aim and receive the required support.
She further warned that, her NGO is out to train and empower women and youths including graduates who are interested, in skills capable of making them self reliant as well as becoming employers of labour, stressing that, the Foundation does not give out money to trainees because, money will finish but skills obtained will remain with them forever and make them productive.
Earlier in her remarks, the Project Manager, Mrs. Helen Douglas appreciated the stakeholders for turning out in their numbers as she explained that, their presence in the Area today is to give hope to the hopeless.
She therefore urged them to open up on areas they think the Foundation can assist them in Skills training.
In her welcome address, wife of the Gashaka Caretaker Chairman, Hajiya Zulai Muhammed appreciated her Excellency for the visit as well as the fulfilment of her promise to carry people along in her Foundation, describing it as historic and the first of its kind in the Zone.
Also speaking, wife of the ALGON Chairman, Mrs. Jane Agya appreciated the Governor’s wife for the heart she has for people at the grassroots as well as taking her time to personally reach them.
She further called on the Chairmen to support their wives so as to surmount challenges faced by the Northern Zone, which she experienced during her supervision as directed by Her Excellency.
After extensive deliberation by the forum, the various Chairmen took turns to appreciate Her Excellency for the initiative and pledged total support to the programme to enable it achieve the desired goal.
Those in attendance include, wives of top Government functionaries, Staff of Hope Afresh, Caretaker Chairmen from Gashaka, Bali, Kurmi, Gassol, Sardauna and the new NGADA Development Area, wives of Caretaker Chairmen, DDI women leaders, Youth leaders among others.
