Wife of Taraba State Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku has bagged an award for her humanitarian services to the people of the State.

The award was presented to her today by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, from Takum Local Government Area, at the Hope Afresh Foundation Taraba.

While appreciating and welcoming the Corps members to Jalingo, Barr. Anna Ishaku stated that, when she received their letter informing her of the award, she wondered why she was to be given an award, stressing that, “when people rate you, you need to know what yardstick they are using to rate you”, adding that, she is only doing her job.

She commended them for taking the pains to come and honour her despite their challenges of non-payment of allowances, saying they have done something beyond the ordinary, stressing that she will add her voice to theirs so that something will be done about their plight.

She further urged the outgoing Corps members among them to put whatever training they have received into good use instead of relaxing and depending on others for their livelihood.

Speaking earlier, the Taraba State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Emmanuel Attah, explained that the award being presented to the Governor’s wife is in recognition of her philanthropic activities at the grassroots especially the free medical services offered to destitutes.

According to Mr. Attah, the Corps members have decided to celebrate her Excellency’s humanitarian gestures as it is in line with the NYSC scheme which is health focused as well as skills acquisition oriented.

He further appreciated the State Governor, Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku for connecting the NYSC camp to the national grid.

Highlights of the event include reading of her Excellency’s citation, presentation of award by Takum corps members and presentation of a portrait by one of the members who is an artist.
