Former President Olusegun Obasanjo who arrived Taraba state last week for a private visit today paid a courtesy call to the Governor of Taraba state, Architect Darius Dickson Ishaku at the government house chambers, Jalingo.

He applauded the governor’s efforts towards the maintenance of peace and attributed it to why he is succeeding in the development of the state.

Olusegun Obasanjo said Taraba state is blessed with an abundance of natural resources like the Mambilla Plateau in sardauna local government area that has distinguishing weather, animals, and vegetation which cannot be compared to anywhere in the country.

He promised to use all within his powers to continue to support the growth of Nigeria.

The General thanked Governor Ishaku for the warmth reception accorded him and his entourage, describing it as one of the best in his recent visits and pledged his unflinching support to complementing Governor Darius development initiative, bringing into cognizance the Mambilla hydro-electric dam project which is on-going in the state.

In his comments, Governor Darius Ishaku thanked the former president for his visit and praised his openness over the years on issues that concern Nigerians.

The governor said Obasanjo had left blueprints in the sands of time and that he would be remembered for in the country.

He emphasized that finance has been a major challenge for his administration, and that is making him move gradually. The governor said this present administration is able to liberate the state from quagmires with achievements recorded in the state over one year in office which has touched the lives of people in the state.

The governor also wished the former president and his entourage safe trip to their destinations.

The visit witnessed the presentation of locally made fabric from the state to the former President in appreciation of his visit to the state.
