Former President Visits Taraba State: Promises to Support Gov. Ishaku’s Effort in Agricultural Development

The Former President who is an elder statesman and known for his verbatim on both national and international issues said he is in Taraba state to consolidate on the state government’s effort to boost Agricultural development.

He stated that he is going to complement government effort to woo investors into Rice farming through the African Development Bank (AfDB).

He said the Hydro Electric project in Mambilla which he started in 1979 if put to use, would generate two to three thousand megawatts electricity in the country.

He appealed to governments at all levels to place premium on the tourism sector, saying many countries are depending on it as a means of generating money for its development.

Olusegun Obasanjo commended Governor Darius Ishaku for the respect accorded him by mobilising government officials to receive him.

Secretary to the state government, Anthony Jellason who represented the Governor, rolled out the achievements of Darius Ishaku administration within his one year in office.

Speaking on the situation of the Nation, the former President said President Muhammadu Buhari is capable of ruling Nigeria despite challenges facing the Nation.

He said some of the problems facing Nigeria are inherited ones and called on Nigerians to bear with the president, hoping that the challenges would be surmounted.

The Former President admitted that some decisions taken by the Buhari administration are not working and advised that the president should look inward for consultation on the socio-economic challenges facing the country.
