The State Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress, (NLC) Comrade Peter Gambo said Nigerian Government cannot be emphasising the diversification of the economy without providing farm implements to farmers.
Peter Gambo stated this in Jalingo while speaking with our reporter on the economic challenges facing the country. He expressed worry that despite the constant address to Nigerians on the need to change from oil to Agriculture, the Federal Government has failed to provide Nigerian farmers with farm implements like tractors, fertilisers and herbicides.
The NLC boss appealed to both the Federal and State Governments to provide farm implements to Tarabans as it is evident that even civil servants are ready to embark on farming activities.
Peter Gambo said that 80% of civil servants whose names were omitted from salary vouchers have been paid while modalities are also been worked out to pay the few who are still omitted.
He appealed to the State Government to hasten the payment of Staff of Local Government and Primary School teachers salary arrears as this has affected their productivity in service.
