The Director, Environmental Health Services of the Ministry of Urban Development, Mr. Ahmed Auta has called on Tarabans to stop the indiscriminate dumping of refuse within the State Capital, as it has become a serious threat to public health.
Speaking with taravoices correspondent in Jalingo, the Director stated that for every State to attain a quality healthy living standard, a clean environment is involved, saying keeping the State clean is the best option.
He called on the residents to exercise more patience as incinerators are available and will soon be distributed to the affected areas as well as pointed out that the distribution is yet to commence because the Ministry wants every part of the state to at least get one.
In their response, when taravoices correspondent visited the area,residents of Turaki A Ward along Umaru Sale Street in Jalingo metropolis commended the Ministry of Urban Development for evacuating the heaps of refuse in the area.
They however called on the State Ministry of Urban Development to intensify efforts towards providing incinerators at strategic areas to avoid endangering the lives of the citizenry through indiscriminate dumping of refuse within the town.
Some residents and a shop owner called on the people of the area to help the Government, Ministry and the State at large by cleaning their environment for the benefit of all.
