Taraba state Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has appealed to people of the state to sustain the real peace being enjoyed.
Darius Dickson Ishaku said this yesterday during Eid El Fitr Sallah celebration which took place in Government lodge Takum; he maintained that there is nothing as beautiful as peace, adding that peace is a fertile ground for any meaningful development to take place.
He reiterated his determination to work collaboratively with the security apparatuses in the state to ensure that we take peace to the next level.
He used the opportunity and commended all the security outfits for working assiduously by denying themselves sleep and allowing people to sleep in spite of the herculean task of securing the state coupled with the constant security threat to some communities.
The Governor revealed that what he desires most among Tarabans, is for the people to cultivate a right attitude that would engender mutual respect and good-neighborliness cutting across all divide without any form of sentiment.
The governor made a particular focus on how we can work together as a family to withstand any challenge that seems to tear us apart.
Governor Darius Ishaku used the forum to appreciate the people of the state that have contributed in so many ways to help his administration record some remarkable successes in the past one year and solicited for more of the unalloyed support to initiate viable projects that would impact positively on the lives of all Tarabans at all levels.
Darius Ishaku tasks the Muslim communities across the state to make positive use of the lessons learned during the Ramadan fast and use it as a period of sober reflection and solicited for their support and cooperation.
He asked them to be vigilant in their respective communities to help security agencies fish out people that are enemies of peace, progress, and development.
He reiterated his commitment to revitalizing the agricultural sector by emphasizing on dry season farming, pointing out that people that are interested in taking up farming as a means of livelihood would be encouraged by providing them with the needed implements that would make them contribute their quota to the socio-economic development of the state.
Accordingly, the Governor said particular attention would be given to rice and sugar cane, explaining that all security arrangements have already been concluded for the Dominion rice farmer to return to the country so that Gassol rice farm will kick start in earnest.
He and added similar discussion had reached advanced stage for Dangote to equally commence work in Lau.
The Governor solicited for understanding from the people of the state, explaining that the country is facing challenges from all angles most especially financial crisis, pointing out Government is working assiduously to be apt for the payment of salaries and the provision of some basic needs of the people across the state.
He beckoned on all to pray fervently for the government to be able to overcome the challenges.
In his speech during the Sallah get together, the speaker Taraba state House of Assembly said the entire members of Taraba state House of Assembly are on the same page with the Governor on working for the common good for the people and commended him for being up to date in the payment of workers’ salaries.
Represented by the Hon. Member Representing Ussa constituency, Timothy Habila said the are working collaboratively to amend the Fiscal Responsibility Act, which is in the best interest of the state and assured the Governor that very soon the house will conclude on its assignment.
Timothy Habila reiterated the determination of the house to support the present administration in its desire to transform the state and urged all Tarabans to set aside their differences and contribute meaningfully to the betterment of the state.
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman Council of Chiefs Taraba state, Dr. Shekarau Angyu Massa Ibi, Kuvyon ll, who spoke on behalf of all the traditional rulers in the state, said the country and indeed state is faced many challenges.
According to him, people have departed from the presence of God and time has come for all to return God and with humility pray for forgiveness so that God in his mercies will have compassion on us and things will fall back in their rightful positions.
Dr. Shekarau Angyu Massa advised the people to stop insulting their leaders; instead, they should pray for them so that they will be able to discharge their statutory responsibility efficiently, adding that whoever disrespects a leader disrespects God.
He used the opportunity to call on the government to place more emphasis on Agriculture, stressing that it should be added to schools curriculum of learning to begin from the elementary level, most especially now that the government wants to diversify its sources of revenue.
The Royal father assured the Governor of their loyalty and appreciated him for celebrating with the Muslim Ummah in the state during the Eid El Fitr Sallah celebration, adding that the royal Fathers will work tirelessly for maximum peace to return to the state.
In an interview with the caretaker Chairman of Takum Local Government, Hon. Shiban Tikari thanked Governor Darius Ishaku for Assembling Tarabans in Takum to celebrate Sallah and prayed that the act would further boost mutual relationship among people of the state and bring to an end all the unnecessary rumours and rather build on unity, peace and harmonious coexistence across the state.
Shiban Tikari maintained that the people of Takum would cooperate with the Governor in his Rescue Mission that has already kick started to reach all nooks and crannies of his Local Government Area and to encourage people of Takum to be the vanguard of peace in the state.
