The State Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Peter Gambo, says Nigerian government cannot be emphasizing on the diversification of the economy without providing farm implements to farmers.
He expressed worry that the Federal Government, despite its constant address to Nigerians to change from oil to Agricultural sectors has failed to provide Nigerian farmers with farm implements like tractors, fertilizers and herbicides.
The NLC boss appealed to both Federal and state governments to provide farm implements as many Tarabans, mostly civil servants are ready to embark on farming activities. Peter Gambo said eighty percent of civil servants whose names were omitted from salary vouchers have been paid while modalities are also been worked out to pay the few who are still omitted.
He appealed to the state government to hasten the payment of local government and primary school teachers salary arrears as it has affected their productivity in service.
