Christians have been urged to render songs of praise to the Lord at all times in order to attract healing for the land.
Wife of Taraba State Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku stated this during the Choral Praise Programme organised by the Hope Afresh Foundation Taraba in conjunction with the Jalingo Zonal CAN Choir, with the theme, “Heal Our Land” which held at the 1st Baptist Church, Jalingo.
Quoting from Psalm 100, the Governor’s wife who was represented by her Personal Assistant, Mrs Joyce Haruna, stressed the need for the whole earth to come to God’s presence with songs of Thanksgiving and Praise.
According to Mrs Joyce Haruna, her Excellency is a lover of gospel songs and would have loved to be there, however even in her absence, she has the assurance that God has received the wonderful songs and would definitely bring healing upon the land.
Earlier in a brief exhortation, Rev. Emmanuel Ezekiel who took his reading from the book of 2 Chronicles 7:14 and spoke on the title, “Heal Our Land” pointed out that, there is no better time to offer such a prayer than now that cankerworms have eaten up the land.
He said it takes the grace of God to restore all that has been taken away from the State, stressing that, he is sure the revelation of the programme from her Excellency came in order to stir the hearts of believers to seek God because he hears the prayers of his people who humbly call upon him and seek his face in earnest.
He further stated that God will not be giving assurance of healing if the land is not sick, adding that when we turn away from wicked ways, sicknesses of corruption, unforgiveness, selfishness among others, we will be healed by the Lord.
In his remark, the Chairman, Jalingo Zonal CAN Choir, Mr Jerry Ishaya appreciated her Excellency for putting the programme in place, saying praises to God moves mountains.
He informed the gathering that the programme is continuous in nature as he invited all to the next one slated for 31st July 2016, stressing that the only contribution of the public is to avail themselves as well as invite family and friends to grace the occasion.
Highlights of the event were the presentation of songs from various Choir groups.
