The State Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Mr Tony Baba Suleiman today led some members of the party to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Taravoices correspondent reports that the leadership of the PDP received the decampees at the state Secretariat of the party in Jalingo.
Receiving the decampees that included the state Secretary to the APC Tony Baba Suleiman, APC chairman of Sardauna Local Government Area, Yusuf Gori Tanimu among others, the state chairman of the PDP Victor Bala Kona, appreciated the gesture of the former members of APC, saying their bold step towards rescuing the state is worthy of commendation.
The chairman said the doors of the party are always open to everybody.
He said the administration of Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku embraces all Tarabans irrespective of affiliations because his victory at the polls made him the Governor of all, not only members of PDP.
Victor Bala Kona called on all members of PDP to remain focused and not swayed by the minor conflict at the National level of the party.
He stressed that the unity existing in the party at the state level should continue.
Speaking on behalf of the decampees, the former APC State Secretary Tony Baba Suleiman described the Darius Dickson Ishakus administration as the visionary government of the day, with ideas for the betterment and upliftment of the state.
He added that all hands must be on deck to help the state administration actualize its rescue mantra, pointing out that the party is out to protect and promote the interest of all in the state.
Speaking earlier at the occasion the state Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku represented by the Chief of Staff Government House, Rebo Usman congratulated the decampees, assuring them that the party is Just, Fair and Transparent in all its dealings.
He stressed that the People’s Democratic Party has focus and is watchful, pointing out that he will present the governor’s scorecard to the new members.
The PDP Secretariat conference hall was full to capacity as party faithfuls turned up to witnessed the event.
