Bali IDPs Receive Training in Skills Acquisition

In continuation of her empowerment programme to IDPs in the State, the wife of Taraba State Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku has flagged off a Skills Acquisition Training Programme for about 155 IDPs in Bali Local Government Area.

Bali Addressing the gathering at Bali town, the Administrative Officer, Hope Afresh Foundation Taraba, Barr. Nungrimam Dashe who represented the wife of Taraba State Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku,explained that the skills training is in line with her Excellency’s vision of “teaching people how to catch fish instead of giving them fish”.

According to her, 114 people are to be trained in Cosmetology, 20 in Tailoring and 21 in Welding, stressing that the training is strictly for IDPs, as the Governor’s wife has put in place similar programme for people in the Local Government areas which has kick started in the Northern Senatorial Zone.

The Administrative Officer urged the trainers to treat the participants as their own relatives and impact them with skills that will benefit the trainees and the society at large.

She also called on the trainees to take advantage of the opportunity granted them to empower and make themselves self reliant, as well as advised them not to abscond from trainings.

In his remarks, the Care-Taker- Chairman, Bali Local Government Area, Hon. Danladi Danfulani Suntai, expressed delight over the compassion and concern of the Governor’s wife  towards IDPs in Bali”.

He pledged maximum support for the Initiative of the Governor’s wife as well as the trainers to ensure the success of the programme.

Also speaking, the District Head of Bali, Mall. Inuwa Gidado expressed gratitude to the Governor’s wife for remembering the IDPs amongst them as he prayed God to bless and reward her and the Governor.

He pleaded with the trainers to put in their best as they are training not only individuals but the entire Community, advising the trainees to make the most of the opportunity as they will in turn train others.

He also urged the Leaders to appoint those who will supervise the work and ensure that proper records are kept for efficiency and future reference.

The Leader of the Tiv Community, Mr. David Gbaa also in a remark appreciated the Taraba State Governor and his wife, stressing that the empowerment will afford the people means of exploring other avenues to improve their standard of living instead of depending on farming alone.

Rev Felix Toradir, Pastor in charge of  NKST Nachigh in a vote of thanks, appreciated the Governor for his efforts at restoring peace in the area and commended the initiative of Her Excellency in bringing succour to the less privileged.

He vowed to stand firm and supervise the programme to make sure it is successful.

On arrival,the team paid homage to the District Head of Bali, Mall. Inuwa Gidado where the Chief Press Secretary to the wife of the Governor, Mrs. Elizabeth Usen Smith intimated him of the aim of visit.
The team were also shown round the various Training Centers.
