The North East Zonal Congress in Jalingo has just been concluded and Amb. Emmanuel Njiwah has emerged as the new North East PDP Chairman of the party. Governor Darius Ishaku, his Gombe state counterpart, Ibrahim Dankwambo and PDP Acting National Chairman, Sen. Ali Modu Sherrif were all in attendance. The ceremony which began at 2pm has a packed full hall of the Jolly Nyame stadium, with delegates from the five states of the North East.
While delivering his opening speech, Zonal Chairman of the PDP North East, Girgi Lawan said a rigorous process was followed in selecting delegates in order to avoid any impunity, saying by 2019, the party will bounce back. He disclosed that the party has zoned the Chairman of the party and ex-officio member to Borno state, to the applause of the audience .
He further stated that Taraba was given the zonal Chairman and ex-officio member. The remaining north east states were given working committee membership and ex-officio members.
Goodwill messages were delivered by Mohammed El Yakoub from Borno, Sen. Mohammed Hassan from Yobe, Air Commodore Dan Suleiman from Adamawa and Dr Anthony Manzo from Taraba, among others who spoke on behalf of delegates.
