The Nigerian Bar Association, Jalingo State Branch has embarked on boycott protest in the state over illegal deductions from the salaries of its members.
While briefing taravoices correspondent of the decision in his office in Jalingo today, the NBA Chairman, Idris Ibrahim Jalo stressed that a warning was earlier given to the state government and failure to comply resulted into this action.
Idris Jalo said after the expiration of the ultimatum, the NBA members and magistrates have embarked on the planned boycott to press home their demands, adding that the boycott will elapse on Wednesday next week. He noted that if there is no positive response from the state government, the NBA will call for congress meeting to take appropriate action.
It could be recalled that the Association last threatened last week to embark on a warning this week over what it described as illegal deductions from the salaries of its members and that of the Magistrate Association.
However, the Taraba State Acting Head of Civil Service, Mr. Simon Istifanus Angyu, said though his office did not receive the complaints or any notice from the Association, the State Government is doing everything necessary to address all the complaints arising from the payment of salaries.
He assured that the problems would soon be a thing of the past.
