It is a normal sight to see young men standing in as best men in weddings. However, in this particular wedding, Taravoices caught the glimpse of the cutest 67 year old man who stood in as the best man of the day.
Under normal circumstances, a man of his age and caliber would not give in to- such a responsibility, but for a “friend, an associate, a politician, a classmate’s younger brother, a nice man and from the same church, one could stand for him any day”.
This is the story of former Secretary to the Taraba State Government, Amb. Emmanuel Njiwah, who was best man during the wedding of Mr. Peter Achagwa, who wedded former Miss Kande Dodo. The event was held at First Baptist Church Jalingo, on the 8th May, 2016.
The Ambassador, in a chat with Taravoices at his residence, Abuja Phase 1 Jalingo, revealed that his relationship with the groom began as far back as 1993 when he was vying for presidency under the defunct Social Democratic Party, SDP.
He said he was delighted and honoured to be part of the wedding, adding that if not for circumstances, the groom would not be marrying at this age.
He further stressed that the groom, a widower, who lost his wife two years ago, needs no one to advise him on marital issues due to his wealth of experience in marital.
However, he urged him to accept all that has happened as divine, as he wished the couple a happy married life as well as God’s blessings.
