In what could be described as the tragedy of the day, a TSTC passenger bus that took off from Jos on Sunday, 24 April, was involved in a ghastly accident, with only one passenger, a young seven month pregnant woman, being the only casualty of the 18 seater bus.
According to eye witness, the accident occurred between Kashere and Billiri, all in Gombe state, when the tyre of the bus bursted and the vehicle summersaulted. As a result, one passenger was not lucky as she suffered grievous injury on her head and a broken leg, which led to her instant death.
According to a family member who witnessed the tragedy when the tyre bursted, the deceased who was seated behind the driver, attempted to escape through the window while the vehicle summersaulted, and she was affected by the impact of it.
She was however identified by the family member, who happens to be a brother to her spouse who had boarded another Taraba bound TSTC bus, trailing the ill fated bus on that day. The relative then called home to break the sad news and the corpse was transported same day to Jalingo.
The deceased, Peace Sabo John, is wife to Sabo Yakubu, a staff of the comatose Taraba Publishing Company Limited. She is 31 years old and hails from Plateau state, but was raised in Taraba. She was an Accountant with the Taraba State Post Primary Schools Management Board, Jalingo and a business woman, engaged in buying and selling to support her family.
She is survived by her one and half year daughter, husband, parents and relatives. Upon her death, she was carrying a seven month old pregnancy.
She was on one of those business trips as usual, when the sad incident occurred. Burial is expected to take place today, 26th April, 2016, in Jalingo. MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE.
