Over ten persons have been reportedly bitten by snakes in Minda Village of Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Out of the number, two died while others are being treated by a herbalist in the village.
Speaking with our correspondent, a youth in the village, Bassy Bayo Minda explained that the dispensary in the area lacked facilities to treat snake bite victims, as a result, those bitten by snakes were either taken to a nearby herbalist or Kaltungo Health Center in Gombe State for treatment, which often led to death of some of the victims.
He further appealed to the state government to come to their aid by providing Anti Snake Venom, ASV, in the village dispensary to save the lives of people in the area.
When contacted, the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Lau Local Government, Nelson Banker explained that efforts are being made to provide ASV for the victims.
Banker said those whose conditions are critical have been transferred to Gombe state for medication and the Local Government settled their medical bills.
