In continuation of her efforts at uplifting the standard of living of NDOLA Community, as well as rescue them from Child Maternal Mortality Rate, Wife of Taraba State Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku, today commissioned 8 volunteer traditional birth attendants to train 30 women spread across the 6 zones that make up the Ndola community.
The eight volunteers who consists of Executives of Traditional Birth Attendants (TBA), Taraba State Chapter, were entrusted with this task at the Hope Afresh Foundation Office, Jalingo, during an enlightenment forum organised by Her Excellency to sensitize the volunteers on the journey they are embarking upon.
In her address, Wife of the Governor who described her visit to Sunkuru village as an honour and privilege to serve, encouraged the volunteers to be passionate about the job, urging them to train the women in such a way that they would in turn train others.
She further disclosed that, after the training, the six zones would jointly build a dispensary each to take care of patients, after which she, in a counterpart funding will provide the needed items for take off as well as sponsor the training of fourteen staff who will take charge of those dispensaries as lasting legacies of the present administration, two at the School of Nursing, six at the School of Midwifery and six at the School of Health Technology Takum.
She further commended the courage and conviction of the volunteers at accepting to embark on such a task without grudges or complaints.
In a brief remark, Commissioner, Women Affairs and Child Development, Hon. Louis Emmanuel applauded efforts of the Governor’s Wife at putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged, stating that the assignment is beyond Politics and more of a divine one.She called on the volunteers to count themselves privileged as their services were unto God and not to man, adding that they should carry out the assignment without grudges or regrets as God will reward their labour of love.
LAlso speaking, Mrs. Dodo appreciated her Excellency for her passion at helping the less privileged, stressing that God had heard their cry and remembered them in NDOLA through her activities.
She then charged the volunteers to endure the rough terrain to the place as well as train the villagers with patience and love.
Secretary, TBA, Roselyn Kieran also in her remark thanked the Governor’s Wife for counting them worthy to carry out such assignment, stressing that, for caring so much for the needy, she is indeed a mother.
She further affirmed the group’s readiness to go to any length to support those in need as well as work with her Excellency, adding that the group had members spread across 15 Local Government Areas of the State.
As part of her support, Barr. Ishaku provided cartons of Under pads, Sanitary Pads, Mucus Extractors, Ergometrine and Oxytocin Injections as well as Syringes, Soap, Omo, Cancer test kits, Delivery Kit Boxes and several other delivery items for the week long training exercise.
