The Chairman, Committee on Information of the Taraba state House of Assembly, Hon. Sale Saad has revealed the secret of member’s harmonious relationship.
He stated that, mutual understanding and cohesion as a result of a long working relationship have been responsible for the harmonious relationship devoid of rancor in the House.
The House Spokesman revealed this while fielding questions from newsmen after a new Speaker for the House emerged on Thursday.
The exercise as usual, which was hitch free, in a House that consists of a considerable number of opposition members, and where the position of the Speaker was speculated to be a bone of contention within the ruling party of late, however, Abel Peter Diah, who was once the Speaker before his election was nullified, was re-elected.
The member representing Jalingo 2 constituency also added that with the election of a new Speaker, the passage of the budget and the peaceful atmosphere in the House, Tarabans should be rest assured of better days ahead.
The youthful lawmaker was of the view that the jacking up of the budget by the House from the earlier N68 billion to over N100 billion was aimed at diversifying the state’s economy away from dependence on oil and was evident to the fact that the Members had their constituents at heart.
The 24- member Taraba state House of Assembly at present, has a total number of nine members who are from various opposition parties. The rest are from the ruling PDP. This is unprecedented in the history of the state. Ironically, since the commencement of the 8th Assembly in June last year, the House has not experienced any crisis or disagreement, but has operated in harmony.
Meanwhile, the House has adjourned and is expected to resume on 4th of April,2016.
