The official flagging off of the team 14 free cleft and facial deformity surgery was flagged off today at the specialist hospital by the Medical Director Specialist hospital Doctor Joel Rimande.
According to the Medical Director who spoke during the opening ceremony organized by cleft care Nigeria foundation in collaboration with the TY Danjuma foundation. The surgery is scheduled to take place free of charge.
The MD commended Governor Darius Dickson for providing adequate funds to purchase facilities which made the cleft foundation come all the way from Abuja to render free services to the people affected with facial deformity.
The Director cleft care Nigeria foundation Doctor Saidu Bello said the ultimate aim of this foundation is to establish a facial deformity care hospital in Nigeria where free surgical care could be carried out on the less privileged.
Doctor Bello stressed that 95 patients attended the ceremony and 20 were operated. He said the program will last for one week in Jalingo, the state capital.
Some of the beneficiaries and those yet to be operated thanked the state government for putting facilities in place, commending the relative peace which prompted the foundation to come to the state.
