The organized labour congress has declared a three days warning strike against the plight of workers and pensioners in the State, concerning the abnormalities ranging from underpayment of salaries, omission of genuine workers from salary vouchers, illegal deduction from workers salaries, removal of approved allowance, none circularization of salaries of local government workers, and non payment of primary school teachers salaries.
Some of the workers interviewed said, although the state government is doing its best in some areas to tackle the menace of bad roads, adequate supply of water and the commitment in collaborating with the Yola Electricity Distribution Company to provide steady power supply within the state, the problem of salary irregularities has lingered and deliberate plan of action needs to be in place for the benefit of the masses.
According to them, the organized labour which comprises of Nigerian Labour Congress,NLC,and Trade Union Congress,TUC, are out in an attempt to rescue Taraba State workers.
Speaking with our correspondent, the State Chairman NLC,Comrade Peter Gambo has stated that, the state government needs to speed up its commitment towards fighting the long pending problem in the state.
He said the bail out fund meant for Tarabans was used for another purpose and the omission of genuine workers from salary vouchers can not be tolerated.
Efforts to meet with the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Anthony Jellison to confirm the plans put in place by government proved abortive.
