Former speaker of the Taraba state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Peter Abel Diah, representing Mbamnga Constituency and Hon. Emmanuel Dame representing Ardo kola Constituency have been sworn in after they have been handed over Certificate of Return by INEC, having won the rerun elections held on February 20th.
Presiding over at plenary today, the Speaker of the House, Mark Bako Useni congratulated the duo for their victory in the rerun elections and wished them the best in their legislative duties.
‘What has happened is a testimony that you are cherished and loved by your constituencies’, he stated.
It would be recalled that the April 2015 elections that produced the two candidates were nullified by the Tribunal sitting in Abuja last November.
An appeal by the former speaker at the Appeal Court in Yola was not successful and hence a rerun was declared for the two constituencies among several others across the country.
Meanwhile, a message was received by the House from the Executive Governor, Arc. Darius Ishaku for the ‘Appointment of the Auditor-General of the state’.
Having read the letter at plenary, the Speaker directed the Clerk of the House, Ismailu Tentason to invite the new appointee to appear before the House tomorrow for screening in accordance with the law and traditions of the House.
