The Ministry of Finance has proposed a budget of N2.743b (two billion seven hundred and forty-three million naira) that covers capital expenditure for 2016 fiscal year.
Commissioner of Finance, Jesse Ashumate disclosed this during the budget defence before the state House of Assembly.
He said in 2015, the reason for low performance was due to the fact that contractors were no longer available for registration or renewal of their contract because contract in the state was no longer forthcoming in the year under review.
The Commissioner said that the new expenditure recorded on the purchase of vehicles was as a result of frequent changes in government from Garba Umar to Sani Abubakar Danladi to the present government.
Mr Jesse Ashumate stressed that no capital projects from the ministry received attention probably due to dwindling resources from federal allocation.
Responding, the chairman of the committee, Gideon Edward Baraya, said Taraba State government is not father Christmas purchasing cars to political office holders without proper revenue derived from the purchase to the government.
The lawmaker called on the Commissioner to ensure that things are properly done to save the state from waste in order to enhance the revenue of the state.
Hon. Edward Baraya said once the Budget was approved there was no need for duplication hence the need to work strictly within the framework of the budget.
He thanked the Commissioner for the success of his presentation and agencies below it.
