February 25th, 2016 will remain the most memorable day in the history of the NDOLA people, as the Rescue Train, this time piloted by the wife of Taraba State Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku, stormed Sunkuru village, Headquarters of Ndola of Gola Area Development Association( NGADA), in Kurmi Local Government Area.
As it is said in the Bible, the people that once sat in darkness have seen a great light. This came to bear upon the inhabitants of the community as Her Excellency decided to extend her philanthropic works of giving hope to the helpless especially to those living in the interior.
Addressing the gathering during the Development Awareness Congress of NGADA Proposed Development Area at Sunkuru village square, Her Excellency expressed delight over the reality of her dream to visit the community.
She stated that she had brought with her top government functionaries to see things for themselves so as to challenge them to rise up to the task of supporting her to Rescue the community from its present status.
She further declared that, with the permission and support of the Governor, she had brought along motorcycles and grinding machines to lay a foundation of greater development in the area, adding that she had also made forms available which will be given to them to enable them apply for soft loans.
She also commissioned the NGADA as an NGO to the service of humanity and to the glory of God.
Speaking earlier, the Coordinator, NGADA, Rev. Joseph Nagombe, who described the visit as a Divine Assignment, appreciated Her Excellency for approving his proposal of 30 vigilantes stationed at checkpoints on allowances of N4000 each. This he said has seriously brought the attacks of insurgents under check.
According to him, the people of NGADA are spread across five Local Government Areas of the state which include, Bali, Donga, Gashaka, Kurmi and Sardauna, containing 116 villages with a population of 34,480 people.
He however lamented the poor living standard of the inhabitants, enumerating various challenges ranging from lack of medical facilities, lack of educational facilities to poor access roads among others.
He further called on Her Excellency to lend a voice to their cry of a development area which according to him will facilitate development in the area and also conferred on her the title of “the mother to the motherless”.
Also speaking, the founder and former DG, GECHAN, Rev.Art Helwig, stated that the visit signified the beginning of new and exciting things in the community, adding that he was delighted working with people with so much energy.
He assured the community of his support to the development of the area, stressing that over 15 thousand orphans from 18 villages were registered and he would see what to do about them, adding that when different countries work together towards a common goal, success is guaranteed.
The caretaker Chairman, Bali Local Government Area, Hon. Danladi Suntai, on behalf of his colleagues, appreciated Her Excellency for the visit and promised to support NGADA fulfil their dreams.
It may interest you to know that, since the existence of the community, Her Excellency is the first Governor’s wife to ever visit the place, a journey of over 6 hours from Kungana village of Bali local government area with approximately 4 hours through the mountains and rough road constructed for the first time through manual labour due to Her Excellency’s visit.
This is a true symbol of love and humility that posterity will ever reckon with.
