The Chief Vehicle Inspection Officer, VIO in the state Ministry of Works, Daniel Agyo says the department has embarked on a week long sensitization exercise of road users within the state capital.
The Chief VIO made the statement in an interview with our correspondent in Jalingo.
Daniel Agyo said the state government has directed that all vehicles plying the major streets of Jalingo should be sensitized to make the state capital accident free by obeying traffic rules.
Agyo added that the department decided to start the exercise with Tricycle riders otherwise known as Keke-Napep who form the majority of road users in the state capital before other categories.
The Chief VIO maintained that the exercise is not aimed at stopping the use of Keke Napep as speculated in some quarters, but to put the operation on a sound footing for security reasons.
It could be recalled that tricycle riders barricaded the major streets of the state capital on saturday morning after the monthly sanitation exercise, instead of attending the sensitization exercise at the state ministry of works as invited.
