Taraba State Ministry of Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation has commenced the disbursement of the Taraba State Government Bank of Industries (BOI), Micro Small and Medium Enterprises development fund to its successful applicants in the state.
Flagging off the ceremony at the Jolly Nyame’s stadium Jalingo, the commissioner of the Ministry Abba Akawu Zagha said the programme is a joint project between the state government and the Bank of Industries.
Abba Akawu said the signing of the programme was the first assignment of Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku on the assumption of office as part of his rescue mission for the state.
The commissioner said the bank approved 75 applications in two batches and only 50 applicants have submitted acceptance of the offer as requested by the bank.
He added that at the time of the disbursement of the first batch only 46 beneficiaries met the requirements of the bank.
Abba Akawu urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the fund allocated to each cooperative society to set an example for the rest of the groups by ensuring strict compliance.
About 1.5million naira was given to each successful group.
Responding, secretary of Gaskiya Cooperative Society growers of sugarcane and rice from Lau Local Government Geogry Linus appreciated the government and the Bank of Industries for the gesture and promised to make judicious use of the money for the purpose intended.
