A call has been made to the state governor to include Athletes in its rescue mission in the state.
One time African badminton champion Ephraimu Jinkam Bulus made this known to our correspondent in Jalingo.
He said the state is blessed with talented athletes but have been left to suffer owing to lack of incentives that would have boosted their morals.
Ephraimu Jinkam said that 2016 is the year of the national sports festival, yet there is no functional training agenda established by the Taraba state sports council.
He also stated that Badminton is where the state has the hope of medals going back to the previous sports festivals but decry the level in which some of the state players are pitching the tent with other states preparing for the national sports festival.
He said the Government had concentrated much on Football allowing other games to suffer which he said is not good for sports development in the state.
The badminton player called on the government to employ players that have done the state proud over the years to boost sports and cushion their hardship which would, in turn encourage young athletes in the state.
Ephraimu Jinkam also opined that presently he is under the control of the NSDC as the Sports Council failed to employ him despite been one-time African badminton champion.
He challenged Taraba players to be patriotic and imbibe a high sense of discipline to be good ambassadors.
